Anyone dealt with Cala homes target end dates?

Hello posted this on the wrong thread, so posting on here which is the correct thread. Has anyone had any dealings with Cala homes?. We have a new build reserved with them and target completion date is 1st September to 31st October. I know we're still having the effects of the pandemic, but how good are Cala homes at keeping target dates please?

All builders are subject to the whims of the weather, availability of materials etc and labour resources. Given the amount of capital tied up in the purchase of the land and funding of construction, including road infrastructure etc. In their interests to complete the build promptly. No one can account for the unexpected curved ball.

My sister bought a Cala Homes house and it was delayed by a couple of weeks from the date they had agreed for completion.  I don’t know how that rested to the original target date though I’m afraid.  They gave her a voucher to go to a nice spa as an apology.

How far along is the development?
I think external work has (material permitting) not suffered as many delays due to covid as internal work.
We have had a nightmare getting our snagging work done although were able to get in a carpenter to build 2 built in wardrobes and lay a wood floor for us.
May you find your sister soon Helli.
    Sleep well.

Hi again. We're about to exchange contracts and have now been told that the anticipated completion date is September. The property is now also at the stage where they're starting the roof. We're very anxious because kids are supposed to start school in September and not sure we can actually trust this date or its likely to be pushed back even more....

I’d probably plan for a few extra months just in case to be honest.

Our vendor is buying a new build by Cala which was due to be finished in April and we’re still waiting for it to be finished so we can exchange contracts and move.

I think Cala are one of the better developers in terms of timings but I definitely wouldn’t hinge your hopes to September.
  • Please be very careful with Cala Homes. I exchanged on a property in May 22 with a target completion of July. They were very helpful until exchange and then its been terrible. The target completion changed to September, then October. I earlier had an email saying December which they said was a mistake but I'm suspicious. The communication from them is awful and customer experience terrible. I sold my house in May (we are relocating). Myself and my 2 kids are now homeless and my stress levels are through the roof. I am also now having to remortgage at a higher interest rate as the original mortgage expired with the delay. Buying a house from Cala has been the worse decision I have ever made. I had a look on TrustPilot earlier - it seems like post completion experience isn't any better. I hope your experience will be better than mine.

Hi that sounds awful. Did they say why the huge  delay? At what stage is the property?
