Getting Halfords to cancel the PCN is the first and best option. Tell them you will no longer use their store if every visit came with a £100 parking fee.

If UKCPs sent your ex the PCN (as the registered keeper) any appeal will have to be in his name and he will have to defend any potential court claim unless he decides to name you as the driver. Most people on this forum would not name the driver and would not pay unless a judge told them to.
  • Yep I’m on it after the bank holiday.
I’ll send that template off when I can find it as well in the Newbies bit, I’m not going to Halfords knowing my luck I’ll get another despite being on site.
You know what it makes me so angry that these leeches do this. Why not install a pay meter? I managed to save £150 last month, I’m a single mum with a full time job that I fortunately love, and it’s rare I get to save but when I do stuff like this happens. I’ll send the appeal soon as poss thanks for all your advice guys

I wouldn't be overly concerned about any court case. UKCPS haven't (to my knowledge) issued court proceedings for some years. In any case, a 'leaving the site' charge (especially without any evidence) is extremely difficult to prosecute.

For a bit of background, and some ideas on some of the issues to brief yourself about (but no longer 'mitigation of loss'), do have a read of this case.

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
