How do you know that's what power it is drawing?

Just as a sanity check, what change in power do you see if you switch your kettle on? And what does your in-home display show with nothing obviously 'on'?

The part that is likely to draw the most power is the pump that circulates the hot water around your heating system.  If that has developed a fault it might be the cause of your problem.

2.4 kW would be 10 Amps - and google tells me that a domestic heating system should have a 3 Amp fuse.  So either a misreading or something else to have confirmed/checked up on.

  • My boiler pump pulls 200w so yours needs looking into. 2.4kw is what a fan heater would draw. Not normal for a boiler pump.

A smart meter is not an accurate way to rate one appliance.

Most modern CH pumps don't seem to even draw as much as 100W, let alone 2,400W!

They're accurate to around the 1 W level I'd have thought...

They are not an accurate way of testing a single appliance because it's not known what else in the house is on.
