We have meter readings and submitted them as requested. We were often told they were too high. They’ve checked the meter is working properly.

Have you received ANY bills in all that time? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 3.24% of current retirement "pot" (as at end December 2025)0 -
Yes. I can log on and see it now0

If the meter is working correctly then what have you been billed on?1

If the is a limit the agent can do, ask the limit and request that back, even 1k per month until it gets sorted would probably help out.And download or screen all the bills.0

Yes you did. You could read your meter to see how much energy you were using and calculate the cost based on the details of your energy tariff. I'm saying this so that if you're every in a situation like this again won't end up in the frankly bonkers position you are.alijp said:We weren’t happy paying nearly £2000 a month but we had nothing on which to base what we should be paying
Hopefully you'll get this resolved quickly via the complaint process. You certainly should!3 -
If the meter reading were too high that means that you were using more electricity than British Gas thought you should be. In which case it's no wonder that BG charged you so much. What you would expect if you have been overcharged is that your actual meter reading were much LOWER than the estimated ones BG were using (presumably).alijp said:We have meter readings and submitted them as requested. Are you able to post a copy of this up (with personal information removed), as it seems astonishing that any supplier would allow an account to run up that high a credit balance, when bills have been generated. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 3.24% of current retirement "pot" (as at end December 2025)0 -
Could you post a photo of your meter and what reading you would submit on the basis of what is shown? I'm wondering if you may be submitting readings that a 10 times larger than you should be...1

Ten quid OP will never supply that info, or will simply never return to the thread. Seems to happen all the time on here.-1
