Being late for work due to lack of parking, stressed as their shift had already started, seeing signs stating permit holders only and seeing white parking bays, it can be forgiven the defendant believed parking here was acceptable.

Remove the above, because it puts a hint of fault in your part in the Judge's mind.  Not needed in a defence.

Very good apart from that, but every paragraph needs a number.  Then re-number the template defence below it and read it all to understand it, before signing, dating and emailing it.

Thank you for your feedback. Nothing else that needs adding? Am I right in thinking all other paragraphs remain as is?

Quite happy it was deemed ok as a first attempt.

With a Claim Issue Date of 8th April, and having filed an Acknowledgment of Service in a timely manner, you have until 4pm on Wednesday 11th May 2022 to file your Defence.

That's two weeks away. Plenty of time to produce a Defence and it is good to see that you are not leaving it to the last minute.
To create a Defence, and then file a Defence by email, look at the second post in the NEWBIES thread.
Don't miss the deadline for filing a Defence.

Do not try and file a Defence via the MoneyClaimOnline website. Once an Acknowledgment of Service has been filed, the MCOL website should be treated as 'read only'.

    Hello.
Just an update on our case. We’ve received the letters below and an offer of a free mediation service. What’s peoples advice on how to proceed?

IMO you cannot mediate with them as they will want money you do not have to pay!

Saying no to mediation is part of the standard advice already in the NEWBIES thread (post #2 all about court stages) in the section with a red heading in capitals ' IMPORTANT - KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN'.

    Thank you!
my colleague is getting a little nervous that she has to go and present her case at a county court. I’ve tried to explain it’s not like a criminal court. Is there still a chance it gets dropped before then?

    Every chance.

Most are discontinued after they see a forum witness statement and evidence. Those that go to a hearing are usually done remotely, with the D sitting at home. Rarely in person now, since Covid.

I hope you and your colleague are well aware of the upcoming Public Consultation, and how important it is that you are both heard by Government?

Even though this case may now go quiet for a while, don't miss that there is a far bigger 'war' for honest motorists to win.

Please do make time to come here every week over the Summer to check if the Public Consultation has opened, so that you get to add your own voice and anger.

    Explained here:

Don't miss your chance to be heard.

    Show your colleague this video...

    www.youtube.com/watch?v=n93eoaxhzpU

Just three or four people sitting round a table having a discussion.
Although as @Coupon-mad says, the hearing may well be by video link anyway.
