I transferred my 3 workplace pots from previous employers to a 'wealth management' company last November, choosing a 'medium risk' plan. What was approx £460k is now hovering around £400k. Correction - just checked, today it's down to £395k (it has been lower). Lol.

Yes, I know I'm lucky to have that amount of money sitting somewhere, and I do have 10 years until my official retirement date. Still a bit worrying though.
    It certainly is 😳

My pension pot is currently 514k and has not moved much in the last week down 5.2% overall , I don’t need to touch it for 5 years

Time to buckle up for the ride that lies ahead in my personal opinion. All those years of making easy money are drawing to a close.
Yes, most of us lived through the dot com crash, the 9/11 crash, the financial meltdown of 2008 and the recent collapse during Covid. No doubt there will be others coming, can't deny that, but you also can't deny that usually the market recovers.

Although 'Medium risk' can cover a range , to me this looks quite a big drop for a medium risk portfolio. - 14%

I have three DC pensions/SIPPS, all could be classed as medium risk although not invested the same .
Since their peak at the start of December , they are all down by around 4% .

Similar to this poster ' My pension pot is currently 514k and has not moved much in the last week down 5.2% overall '

You may want to revisit your 'medium risk' portfolio with your Wealth Management company . To be fair though I have stopped working , so maybe my view of Medium risk is more Medium Low than Medium High.

I'm 38 and invested my pension into a single fund SW Baillie Gifford North American. The value of my workplace DC pension pot has decreased from £185k to £109k in less than a year. I plan on working for at least a further 20 years so hopefully the fund will recover over that period of time.
    Mortgage - £100,000, Now £98,844
    Penison - £12,900 (Fund Value)
    Savings - 0/£50,000

Do you have other pensions / investments in other regions?
Your timing for comparison is unfortunate:

Ultimately depends what your personal time horizon is. Once upon a time the Nikkei was the place to be invested.

May I ask if you are invested in the stock markets at the moment and if so what sort of funds?
I am unsure if you are realistic or pessimistic?

90% of my SIPP came from after the sale of a business in the form of a salary sacrificed bonus.
After a year (invested just prior to Greek Euro crisis) it was still 10% down. My attitude then and more recently during corrections has been what are the alternatives, how much would have in my account now (I would have paid HRT for the only time in my life and lost CB), I have the opportunity to draw tax free some of the fund before SPA and I’ll probably get the chance to give my children’s retirement a boost.

Really show the importance of spreading the pot around many sectors and regions as possible!
