TV All in one solution for my needs ?

Options
Howdy !
Nothing desperate , but issues with my broadband over the last couple of days have got me thinking .

Current setup ; Toshiba Tv/ DVD combi 32" 12 years old . Only 1 hdmi socket but have junction lead for 3 devices. Can plug computer in
Humax Freesat  recordable set top box
                         Apple TV Box
Have ancient Mac mini , but may well get latest model
All plugged into my stereo via Toshiba TV Headphone socket

On my Apple TV Box I do have iTunes music library  .

Reason why I'm  thinking of possible amalgamation ; 1) Do I really need Apple TV ?? ,  I only use for you tube ( those bloody ads) and mirroring fro my iPhone when I have a video workout from my personal trainer on a weekly basis and mirror from iPad a few days a week
plus listening to my Apple iTunes Music Library .
2) Humax Recordable Freesat Box is Bulky and smaller recordable  models are pricey.

In all honesty I watch very little TV these days , hence the recordsble Humax.

After painting the front room over the weekend and plugging everything back in , the internet problem started on my router.
This is being monitored . But then after issues over last couple of days , maybe there's a smart solution out there .

ond other thing ; my TV being old school 32" ..what side would I need now ?

Thanks in advance ..

You'll need a minimum 40" TV in order to maintain the same screen height. Modern TVs should have the option of plugging in an external HDD and allowing you to schedule recordings. You can continue to use your Apple TV box as new TVs should have up to four HDMI inputs or you can buy an AirPlay 2-compatible Smart TV.
Freeview Play built-in to the Smart TV function will get you catch up TV.
  • Thanks so far for input ..
The only things I record are old shows on forces tv, or one or 2 music items on sky arts , and maybe the odd scandi drama etc . I don’t do Netflix anymore and don’t pay for anything.

As for the extrnal HDD , excuse my ignorance but is that the same as an external hard drive like you plug into a Mac computer ?😬

I haven’t got a tv aerial, only the satellite dish I inherited so Freesat only . .

Yes; just a normal external HDD. Get a Smart TV with FreeSat built in. An Internet connection will get you 'normal' catch up TV channels on a TV without an aerial. BBC iPlayer for example.

Not necessarily recommending that TV in particular; it's just an example of one with FreeSat inbuilt.

Streaming doesn't necessarily make recording redundant. The main draw for recording is being able to ditch and FF through adverts. Have you ever tried to watch anything on the All4 or ITV Hub free streams, a painful, frustrating experience if ever there was one.
  • Thanks for advice so far.

I didn't realise how much out of he loop I am in the TV world. Looking at the kind suggestions above, I notice that there is no headphone socket or straight connection to my stereo amplifier. My Amp has RCA sockets. Plus regarding Freesat  , I didn't see any sockets for the 2 Pins on the respective TV's so that means I couldn't get rid of my Humax .

Anyway, please keep suggestions coming     😼

When you say old school 32" what do you actually mean? My TV is 32" and will be a similar vintage to yours but it's 1080p (1920 x 1080 resolution).

What two pins? Please try to describe more accurately. They have an RF In socket for the connection.

    For your amplifier, you can use something like this;

in between the TV and the amplifier.

    4:3 ratio?
Equivalent would be a 40" widescreen
