Hello guys, I have just moved into a new property, so both electricity and gas were automatically treated as deemed tariff. The energy supplier is Opus Energy, they just sent me a bill for the following rates:
Electricity:
Standing Charge: 400.000p per day
Unit Rate: 85.000p per KWh
Gas:
Standing Charge: 250.000p per day
Unit Rate (I don't use any gas so there isn't a rate stated)
Can anyone advice that if I can dispute of these sky high rates, and what to do if I stand any chance?
Thank you all in advance.

Is this commercial, rather than domestic?
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Opus are a business supplier, if you are not a business then you will need to tell them that and get your meter changed to domestic then switch to another provider. There are a few other similar posts around if you search for 'Opus'...0

Par for the course with commercial tariffs.

Unit Rate: 36.0210p per unit
Start Date: 01/03/2022
End Date 30/09/2022
Standing Charge: £3.59 per day
Unit Rate: 9.7362p per unit

End Date: 30/09/2022

Thank you all in advance. Is that still the case these days?If you move into new business premises you will usually be on the deemed contract with the existing supplier so you can switch as you are not under contract, but someone will be trying to charge you for your use from day 1 ...

You may well be correct. If you are still the tenant or owner and want to swop suppliers you can only do so without penalty one month before your contract ends. If as the OP is doing he is moving into a vacant premises he needs to get a contract as the Out of Contracts are exorbitant (+50%) - as I found out.
