Emirates delay pilot illness

19 Posts

Hello
we were impacted by 26 hour delay due to pilot illness in emirates flight from Newcastle!
we have made claim to emirates who have said it’s extraordinary circumstances and have refused any compensation.
I have read of cases where this is not extraordinary circumstances !
enieates have offered 51000 air miles per passenger as gesture of goodwill which we have refused
what do we do next ?

Thank you for your recent email and I regret to learn that you and your family were affected by the delay of flight EK034 from Newcastle to Dubai on 01 April 2022.
Although every effort is made to adhere to scheduled departure times, which are an integral part of our product, regrettably there are occasions when flights are delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. Our records reflect that the above flight was delayed by 26 hours due to the operating captain being unwell and unable to operate this flight. Regrettably, this caused you to miss your onward flight to Bangkok and naturally, I do appreciate the inconvenience that you were put through.
Any out of pocket expenses or financial loss incurred as a result of this flight delay may be claimed on your travel insurance depending on your policy. Emiratescan provide you a flight delay certificate for insurance purposes which may be requested via our websiteshould this be required by your insurance company.
Whilst we would not normally be in the position to offer recompense in these circumstances, it is never our intention to have dissatisfied passengers, and therefore, as a goodwill gesture, I have credited your Skywards account with 50,000 complimentary miles and we will be happy to offer the same to Other travelers
Firstly, if you want a solicitor you should consider just paying fees rather than giving them 50 per cent.
Secondly, you do not need a solicitor but can use the 'small claims' track. People on this board can tellyou exactly how that works.
