Dcbl = ruthless.

DCBL took me to the high court this month for £1429.50 relating to 5 x parking invoices I failed to pay to CP Plus in May 2019( yes all in one month),as I over stayed my 2 hours free time at the same service station due to me being unwell with a low iron count so needed to rest and sleep.DCBL took me to the high court and threatened  enforcement on me if I did not pay the £1429.50 by 5pm today 11/4/2022.
I paid by debit card over the phone to them and even though I was now unemployed and unwell at the time in 2019, they showed me little compassion and took the full amount off me and out of my bank account straight away.
I wrote to the County court in Northampton about how I was unwell in 2019 but got no response, and also wrote to the financial ombudsman and again no response.
Did I do the right thing paying the full £1429.50 to this ruthless company ? And is there any action I myself can take against DCBL as I felt bullied and threatened into paying by the Enforcement letter.Am very distraught tonight after my dealings and stress caused by DCBL and how they operate 😡😩.
Thanks
Nigel.

    What a terrible thing to happen.

    No, you did not do the right thing. A landowner cancellation should have been attempted. That's always Plan A.

    Properly defended, you would probably have won.

    Even if you had lost a properly defended claim, five PCNs at £100 each, plus permitted court costs should have cost you no more than around £600.

  • It's been to court then high court so enforcement was threatened if I did not pay the £1429.50 by 5pm today.
    DCBL took the full amount out of my account today.
  • The original 5 invoices were for a £100 each so you can see how they have trebled the costs to me 😡
  • This company are ruthless how they operate but I got the enforcement letter saying I had to pay by 5pm today after a high court writ was alive on me.
  • So £1429.50 was the full amount took off me over the phone today 😡

    You might be able to get some specific bailiff-related advice from Bailiff Advice Online. Calls and the email enquiry service are free.  Here's the link to their website.
    Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

    I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
