You should hardly notice any downtime when you migrate, think it is usually done at midnight and one terminates and the other kicks in. In reality you might be off the air for a couple of hours though. Avoid a migrate day like a Friday though in case of trouble since u cud be out thru the weekend esp. if BT exchange have screwed up. Wednesday probably a good day for it.My website has lots of info and photos from various Greek and Canary Islands esp. about walking. My profile has the site address cos not allowed to put it here.0

I migrated from Wanadoo to Virgin exactly a week ago. My connection was down when I tried it at 7am and it was back on by 2pm the same day.
It was very easy, I had no hassle at all.

Yes, make sure you migrate by asking your existing provider for a MAC code, then give this code to your new provider when you sign up - it should all be done automatically about 10 days later with no noticeable downtime.0

It is not possible to migrate from all ISP's. It depends on whether your provider operates "datastream" or "IPstream". If your provider is datastream you will probably need to get your connection disconnected by BT and then reapply to your preferred new provider.
The downtime in some cases has been known to run into weeks.
If you're with a provider that operates on IP stream you should be able to migrate as mentioned above.
Plenty of info re ISP's in this forum http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=which_isp . If you're not sure whether or not you have an IP or datastream product just post the question and someone will assist you0 -
Try her http://www.adsl4less.com/ - no limits BB (512kbps) for £14-99 per month plus they accept datastream migration if your ISP co-operates.0
