De energised?

Hi

I wanted some advice. I recently discovered that my energy company have put me de energised for electricity since november and i am unsure why? I am now going to be face with a large bill as one of the energy company workers told me? Just wanted to know where i stand on this, should the energy conpany accept some responsibility too as they have wrongly put me as de energised? I have never had this problen with them in the last 5 years?

  • De-energised means the service cable is in place, but the fuse has been removed. The meter remains connected to the distribution network, but no electricity can be used. So if youve been de energised you wouldnt be getting any electricity?!
  • Yes i know but we have always had electricity this is what i dont get? Upto until november there was never a problem with my electricity bills etc but they now saying it showing on national database that i have been de energised which i just dont get when i have never had an issue?

So you are still getting electricity but not had any bills or paid any DD's

When did you last get a bill with an actual reading on it ?  What was it ?  What is the reading now?

Have they got a specific email address for customer complaints ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
  • So have been paying a direct debit for gas it seems but not for electricity so i am aware iw ill owe monwy i think but they also must has some responsibility in this surely
  • The last readings i gave them were for this month so i just waiting for them to send me my electricity bill- that what they are saying

So you do still have a meter and you are still able to use electricity?
If that is true then you have not been de-energized so it is just a matter of getting your billing up to date...

  • Yes still able to use.
When my billing is update will i be met with a huge bill?

You'll have to pay for the energy you've used since they wrongly thought you were de-energised, yeh.

But if you've carried on paying a monthly direct debit that hasn't reduced, you should be in significant credit now which will cover most of it?

De-energised is a strange term to use . - in my days it was simply "cut off"  (as a result of debt)    It implies that that the supply has been physically cutting the incoming supply cable in the footpath or by removing the main fuse and applying seals.

But yes you will have to pay for the energy -  you might get £25 as a gesture.
