Hotpoint fridge too cold

We've recently had a replacement hotpoint fridge freezer as our old one (less than 6 months old) began freezing veg and salad in the salad compartment. We've had the exact same make and model and this one seems to be doing the same thing! I'm at my wits end with it as it was so hard to get hold of hotpoint to sort a replacement.
Has anyone had this experience before??

Get a fridge/ freezer thermometer and see how cold each section gets. How long does the compressor motor turn on for and how long is it off assuming the doors haven't been opened, on mine it's off and on time is about even at 10 minutes.

Silly question, but... Have you tried adjusting the thermostat ?

Thanks I think I will do that. At least it'll be something tangible to put to hotpoint

Getting a fridge/freezer thermometer is the way to go but if you want to go further you might want to look at getting a temperature data logger which can record the temp over a period of time at various data points.

I have this one which I've found useful:

Why is it so difficult to get hold of hotpoint? They must have a customer service contact. If this is a new FF it will still be covered by the guarantee so this must be your way to get the problem fixed

Why is it so difficult to get hold of hotpoint?

On Hotpoint's easy to find website https://www.hotpointservice.co.uk/
they say 'Our customer service team are available 364 days a year to provide advice and solutions to help you manage, maintain and service your appliances, and keep them running like new'

In 'How can we help' they offer:
    • WhatsApp (we respond Mon-Fri, Sat 8:30-4:30, Sun 9:30-3:30)
    • Live Chat (estimated waiting time currently 0 minutes)
    • Phone 0330 818 4345 (waiting time less than 5 minutes)

Are you saying none of these work?

@Alderbank I'm not saying these don't work, they do and they are quite responsive. The problem was being passed from pillar to post and having to explain the problem multiple times during one phonecall

Wow I've never seen a site that bad.
There's no address, no complaints dept, no customer services.
There is no way I'd buy their products so thanks for alerting me.
Meantime take the temperature readings, and photogaph. Have any correspondence copied with dates of your purchase and replacement so you can make your case.
Who did you buy it off? They should be dealing with this.

We have a Hotpoint F/F too, and it did the same thing at times - found our beers were froz rather than just chilled.
I just knocked the temp up a notch and it's been fine since.
I guess the temp indicator isn't as accurate as it should be, but it makes sense to check it with a reliable therm as you also don't want it too warm.
Both fridge and feez sections seem to be fine, tho'.
Now, the range of noises it makes as it goes through its cycles is another matter...
