It will be "double insulated" and will only have two wires. If you're happy wiring up a standard UK plug, cut the existing plug off and go for it. Put a 3 amp fuse in the plug.
If not, an adaptor like the one linked to above is the next best option.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Thanks for your help, I do have plugs which I cut off various appliances which were faulty and I had to dispose of them.
However I believe the easiest option would be to buy the adapter.
However that has a 5amp fuse , would that be OK0 -
A 5 amp fuse will be OK. You will be able to change it anyway if you want. Depending what appliances the old plugs you have came from, one might have a lower rated fuse in it. If they are moulded plugs, chuck 'em away (except the fuses!). If they are the good old screwed together ones, they could be worth keeping.78daniel said:Thanks for your help, I do have plugs which I cut off various appliances which were faulty and I had to dispose of them.

Moulded plugs usually take out including wire from appliance.
But I do have few older screw type ones.

They also sell the same one with a 3 A fuse, as it happens. https://cpc.farnell.com/powerconnections/fcp-bk-3a/converter-plug-european-black/dp/PL0995478daniel said:However that has a 5amp fuse , would that be OK0 -
Did I read that correctly that you disconnect wire from old appliances and keep moulded plugs with wire still attached. Not something I would ever do, seems a dangerous thing to have lying around78daniel said:Moulded plugs usually take out including wire from appliance.

not sure how we got onto this but if anyone's cutting moulded plugs off you show keep them safe, or hit them with a hammer to bend the pins so they can't be inserted into a socket even if they get thrown on the bin

I always remove the fuse and then bend the pins to make them unusable. I would consider it negligent not to.
