Then several years later you sell the home and suddenly do all the things and have about a week of living in a fully done place wondering why you waited so long? 😂Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

I used to move between rented places so frequently that about 3 years after buying my flat I realised lots of grot had built up because I’d never had to do any deep cleaning outside of move-in and move-out. It just wasn’t on my radar as something to do for reasons other than moving house 😂Debt at LBM (Dec 2018): £23,167

My vision for my flat has finally come together but I've only got around to it because I'm selling. I am also planning to pay for a deep clean. Why was that never good enough for myself? Next place I'm going to do it for LMG and me because we are worth it.

I appreciate all the validation that I’m not alone in this, though obviously this doesn’t apply to me in my new place and I’ll absolutely get the interior design sorted to a high standard now instead of in 20 years when it’s time to sell 🤣Debt at LBM (Dec 2018): £23,167

I’m making progress on the unpacking etc, though the place is still a mess and I’ve reached the ‘chucking stuff in drawers and planning to properly organise them later’ stage. Had one unplanned spend, on some bookends that I was planning to stock up on gradually to get to the number I need but they’re constantly going out of stock so after noticing they were back in I bought the lot at once. It’s one of those spends that seems really trivial but there’s nothing more annoying than flimsy bookends that don’t hold the books up properly and these are also very low profile and unobtrusive. I’m hoping that this year I can direct more money to that sort of spend that will solve a day to day annoyance and make things a bit easier when the making do solutions aren’t really working, and less on random clothes. In the online sewing communities it’s referred to as making cake (the staples that you need to wear day in day out) rather than frosting (pretty dresses you’ll wear twice a year) and I love that idea.Debt at LBM (Dec 2018): £23,167

It may have been an unplanned spend but it makes sense to me to get them all at once whilst they are in stock. It would be awful if you got some now and then later on were unable to get matching ones! Well that's how I look at it.
