Thank you @redofromstart and @beanielou! Redo I’m sorry, I can’t count as high as many lots. Many is as high as I go.
Coming back here has already had the excellent benefit of making me think twice before buying (more) expensive tea over the weekend. I have developed a bit of a habit for posh teas, also posh hot chocolates…you’d think making and drinking them at home would make it cheaper than having them out but I’m not convinced that’s the case. I like to say it’s all about focusing on the small joys to get through the day, but I currently have enough joy in the cupboard for the next 5 years 😆
I was surprisingly frugal in February with £15 spent on books but no further purchases other than groceries. Wondering if I can make it through March with the same result…Debt at LBM (Dec 2018): £23,167

Love the way I made a grand return to my diary then disappeared 🤣 will surprise nobody that I’m on the extremely long waiting list for an adhd assessment (thanks to someone on Instagram who I initially followed for their paying off debt journey which then continued into their adhd diagnosis journey which involved being walloped around the head with lightbulbs for me). Autism too, though the way things are set up in my area that should come quicker.Anyway, it’s been quite a chaotic summer of bad luck but I’m optimistic for a nice cozy autumn with no hospital admissions for me or the cats, or things falling through the roof. I’ve been lurking on diaries off and on for the past couple of months.Have been getting work done to the flat since I was last here (the second phase of planned stuff, after which there’s a couple of big jobs that are more ‘nice to have’ and that I won’t be able to afford for a good few years. Plus some shelves to put up that it’ll probably also take me years to get round to).Finding it surprisingly hard to part with the money carefully saved up in advance for the work 😆 much more of a dopamine hit to put it on the credit card then have the stress and anxiety of chipping away at it! But I’ve resisted that urge (other than making some payments on the card for the protection) and I’m dutifully transferring money and paying it off. Will hopefully be a much warmer winter inside the flat than previous ones have been!
On the clothes and books spend…I’ve been buying pjs this year. Lots of pjs. Finally accepted that I spend 99% of my time in them and maybe I should have some that I like and that don’t have holes in. I’ve also gone up a size and packed away the lovely work clothes for now, though I’ll probably need to rehome them in the future. Books and nice tea/coffee/hot chocolate for home continue to be purchased. Budget balances and I’m managing to save each month so I’m going with it for now, though I’ve also been spending time wondering if I could ever reach FIRE.Debt at LBM (Dec 2018): £23,167

My favourite pjs were from the weird fish sale at the start of the year but they don’t seem to be doing pjs anymore. I’ve been making inroads into the cyberjammies sale over the summer - their loungewear feels lovely and silky, though it’s fairly thin and bobbles quickly. Their pjs replace hems and cuffs with bias binding which annoys me, but they’re natural fabrics with pockets and I have one particular pair that make me feel all sophisticated, like I’m in a Golden Age mystery. And the fabric isn’t as thin as lots of places (looking at you John Lewis).Though for the next few months they’ll be hidden under jumpers and socks whenever out of bed. Plus a mountain of blankets and heated throws.Debt at LBM (Dec 2018): £23,167
