Gifted Items in tenancy

I've not had items "gifted" during a tenancy but I rented a place which included some white goods in the listed fixtures. It was made clear at the point I signed the TA that they were included "as is" and the LL had no obligation to repair them if they broke - which they of course did. Bought something cheap to keep me going until I moved out and left the old broken ones behind for the LL to deal with.
Either way, you need to clearly ascertain the situation - in writing. If the hob is truly "gifted" then it's yours to do with as you wish, but the last thing you want is for the LL to try charge you for taking it when you move out, charge you for leaving it leaving it behind when you move out, or for disposing of it without "permission". Also, if it is the LL's responsibility then you'll obviously not want to incur costs sorting it out for them. I suspect you'll probably end up having to buy something cheap anyway as a stop-gap, since it sounds like your LL will drag their feet about this.
