Refund or rebook?

So on Tuesday 5th April, I’m stood at Manchester airport in a queue for over 2.5 hours for a Ryanair flight to Alicante…I get to the check in and am told I’m too late, the gates have closed….I’m told to rebook online… impossible to do this at Manchester airport at the time…there was no one at the Ryanair customer service desk and none of the members of staff at said airport were very helpful…..
Whilst I’m happy to rebook, the price of the flights have soared beyond my budget…as it wasn’t my fault ( there was one female member of Ryanair staff at the check in…), I don’t see why I have to pay the extra…..besides…I was only going for a few days…the opportunity will have passed me by if I don’t go this weekend…
Any advice, anyone?

I’m trying to phone the company that I booked with online but I’m just stuck in an automated queue….

If they offer a refund - take it.

When they said rebook they probably meant you will have to pay in full for the flights again not just the extra for price increases.
I think you will be lucky to recoup any of your costs by either a refund or getting the cost towards new flights given the delays at Manchester have been well known for a while now.
I doubt Ryanair will be refunding anything and I suspect the unnamed booking agent won’t be forking out from their pocket either since they don’t appear to have any responsibility for it.0 -
The problem is the airport, not the airline, you could try writing demanding a refund, I suspect hundreds are planning to do the same but right now, 4 hours appears to be the minimum you need. Frankly, the airport deserves to lose business but the MD was pushed earlier this week and they claim everything will be 'normal' (which was bad anyway) in 2 months or so. Since the pay is less than working at Tesco, I suspect few will be rushing to apply for jobs there0
