New to this site so be gentle lol and sorry for the long post.
I put my Audi A4 into Arnold Clark for service and MOT under service plan. I was informed I needed back pads a tyre and a retaining spring on the front caliper, I okayed the work. The car went in on the Thursday and after a delay in getting the spring I got it back the following Tuesday with a new MOT. I drove the car our of the dealers and realised I had no brakes the pedal went straight to the floor, I frantically pumped the brakes and the pedal feel came back. I drove another mile and the pedal went again. I phoned them but had to wait for a call back and as it was nearly 6pm I knew I would be stranded at the road side so I nursed it home. The car went back in on the Wednesday morning they had the car for another 13 days. They did give me a courtesy car which broke down on the Saturday and after a phone call to the branch I was told there was nothing they could do for me leaving to deal with getting their car recovered.

The service manager from the branch was honest with me regarding fixing my car although not admitting any fault on there part.
After I got the car back I got a call from customer services offering £75 as a goodwill gesture. Is this fair or should I expect more.

Not sure about fair or not, but why on earth did you risk carry on driving when you knew it was not safe?

As a very experienced driver I knew I would be able to stop by pumping the brakes and not going over 20mph. As I had been told AC had no courtesy car I couldn't be stranded and had to get home to pick up my dog.0

I'd take the £75 gesture & run.0

You should be able to recover all the losses that their incompetence has caused. Hire cars etc.0

Take the £75 offered which hopefully is cash and not a voucher.1 -
If you had an accident knowing your brakes were faulty then it would have been you prosecuted not Arnold Clarke.3

You don't seem to be out anything, so taking the £75 seems fair.
Though I don't understand why you didn't just take the car the few hundred yards back to Arnold Clark instead of nursing it home., given you wouldn't then need to get it back to them.
Or how changing a caliper spring on one brake would cause them all to fail. I'm guessing they didn't bleed it so you air in the lines and no pressure.

Computers and humans make mistakes. You drove the car back even knowing about the problem. AC did not argue, they agreed to fix, loan a free car, and on top 75 pounds. I will award AC 10/10. The reason for this is how they handled the problem.
As Herzlos posted I too felt it was air in the brakes, it happens, move on.2 -
I was only inquiring if this was a fair offer not once did I complain about AC fixing my car, also I drove it as I had to get home because my dog was needing picked up.
Also if it was air in the lines as the expert mechanics on this thread seem to think why did it take a further 13 days to bleed them.0
