Expected transfer time of S&S ISA from HL to Vanguard?

The switch happens the same day, provided hat you meet the cut off times for both funds. If the two funds have the same valuation point, you will not be out of the market at all. Sending a secure message would be a waste of time. You have to set up the buy and sell orders yourself. You have to have enough cash in your account to cover the buy order.Collyflower1 said:
Thanks, so if i bought another fund and at the same time sold my original fund the switch could happen quicker? Is that correct? And i suppose i'd need to send a secure message of my request on the Vanguard site? Its just that i'm pondering whether to take more risk given my timescale of at least ten years!GeoffTF said:
4-7 business days:dunstonh said:
I don't believe Vanguard pre-funds switches. So you are looking 2-3 days for settlement from the dealing point on the sale and 2-3 days for settlement from purchase.Collyflower1 said:Wonder how long it takes transferring an S&S isa from fund to fund within the same platform, ie, Vanguard?

You can do a switch at the same pricing point by kicking off a sale at purchase together, but your cash balance has to be enough to cover the purchase. Vanguard does not charge for transactions, so you can do that in stages at no extra cost.
Most platforms allow you to credit money with a debit card and use the money immediately. With Vanguard, you have to wait until the next day for the debit card transaction to clear.
If the market has a really bad crash, it can stay down for thirty years or more. Indeed, it might not recover at all.0 -
Well, transferring the pension from Fidelity to Vanguard took a bit longer, about 10 days. Still very reasonable.sebtomato said:
Interestingly, I am also transferring a Fidelity pension to Vanguard, so will see how long it takes. Clearly, the Vanguard side is fast currently.Albermarle said:
I can beat that . Aviva to Fidelity in less than 48 hours . It seems Aviva are particularly quick in transferring pensions out .sebtomato said:I must admit I am impressed transferring two pensions from Aviva to Vanguard.
Requested the transfer on Sunday on the Vanguard website, transfer has been completed this morning, so done in less than 4 working days.
Not sure if pensions are quicker than ISAs, but it was surely fast.0 -

It took less than 48 hours to transfer my Vanguard Isa funds at HL across to show up in my Vanguard account.

Transfer between Hargreaves Lansdown and Vanguard has been completed now. Took about 10 days, but I had sold all investments in HL also, so it was only cash transferred.0

Clearly not the case, as transfer from HL to Vanguard (ISA) was done in about 10 days. I did however sell all my funds on HL first, so it was only a cash transfer.GeoffTF said:At least 3 months, I would expect, judging from personal experiences of transfers and reports from other people. You could be out of the market for a long time. It would be safer to buy Vanguard funds with HL and transfer them in specie.0
