I must admit I am impressed transferring two pensions from Aviva to Vanguard.

Requested the transfer on Sunday on the Vanguard website, transfer has been completed this morning, so done in less than 4 working days.

Not sure if pensions are quicker than ISAs, but it was surely fast.
I can beat that . Aviva to Fidelity in less than 48 hours . It seems Aviva are particularly quick in transferring pensions out .
Interestingly, I am also transferring a Fidelity pension to Vanguard, so will see how long it takes. Clearly, the Vanguard side is fast currently.

Aviva are very efficient at transfers.   One of the quickest.

I am in the process of transferring an isa from HL to Vanguard and it has taken 6 weeks so far. HL rejected the transfer  recently saying Vanguard had only requested a partial transfer. Vanguard insist they requested a full transfer. HL then said they couldn't proceed until Vanguard send a new request for full transfer.  Vanguard took 10 days to action that and now HL have received 'a' request, they aim to process it within 6 weeks!!

Wonder how long it takes transferring an S&S isa from fund to fund within the same platform, ie, Vanguard?

I don't believe Vanguard pre-funds switches.  So you are looking 2-3 days for settlement from the dealing point on the sale and 2-3 days for settlement from purchase.

That's not an ISA transfer in the accepted sense though, i.e. moving an ISA from one manager to another - what you're describing is simply a sale of one fund and the purchase of another, even if the provider may choose to refer to it as a switch....

Thanks for the information. Sounds like HL are dragging their feet.

You can do a switch at the same pricing point by kicking off a sale at purchase together, but your cash balance has to be enough to cover the purchase. Vanguard does not charge for transactions, so you can do that in stages at no extra cost.

Most platforms allow you to credit money with a debit card and use the money immediately. With Vanguard, you have to wait until the next day for the debit card transaction to clear.

I believe that's only when you load cash in your account.

If you load cash as part of a transaction like buying some funds, money is available straight away and transaction is executed.

Thanks, so if i bought another fund and at the same time sold my original fund the switch could happen quicker? Is that correct? And i suppose i'd need to send a secure message of my request on the Vanguard site? Its just that i'm pondering whether to take more risk given my timescale of at least ten years!
