What can you claim from your airline if they cancel at the last minute and leave you stranded abroad until the next day, or longer?

There are no fixed limits, every airline will expect you to find a reasonable hotel room, BA usually agrees to up to £200 per room per night plus meals but no alcohol. Always check with the airline at the airport if you are on your way home, some may have deals with a hotel and will issue pre-paid vouchers. some hotels may be great others may be the overseas equivalent of the Liverpool Adelphi or others in the Britannia chain!1
