Vendor only willing to pay for part of remedial work

I now know why going with the highest offer would always be fraught with problems !!
I can't add to what has already been stated but I do think you have got as much out of the vendor ,which has been way over what I would consider accommodating
You are buying a house which has heating and serviceable electrics, albeit needs updating sometime in the future.
You need to decide what you have to have or what you will require in future.
Home ownership is always this way, you may want to do something but funds will be better spent on what is absolutely necessary & the good stuff will have to wait3 -
Why would the vendor pay for it ?
They're happy with what they have, you're the one not happy.
The vendor is moving out so if you want to update the electrics then that's on you. it will benefit you, not the vendor.
I am not sure why you expect someone else to pay for whatever you want.1 -
They don't have to contribute if been sold as seen.ESMForum said:Vendor did electrical safety check upon my request, found the wiring quite dated and needs replacing. Their contractor quoted £3k for replacing everything including new sockets, fascias, new plastering etc. But they are only willing to pay for part of the work and are asking me for 'a price which you deem fair. 'They are unwilling to renegotiate the purchase price, so asking for a reduction is off the table. What are my options here? Should I insist that they pay for the entire work?
