Covid recovery certificate for under 12s?

Hi, don't suppose anyone has any experience of obtaining a Covid recovery certificate for a child under 12? We are due to fly to Malta next week, and were on the verge of cancelling (at significant cost!) due to their PCR entry requirements for children preventing us from getting in with our recently recovered son. Does Canada accept a recovery certificate?

Canada doesn't accept unvaccinated adults. They do accept unvaccinated under 12s and 12-17 yr olds have to isolate for 14 days.
