MOT Advisory
Options
Partner took the Sandero for its first MOT today, to an Arnold Shark outlet (yes - I know). It passed but came with an advisory:
Orally they said they tyres were severely perished and recommended new tyres. Bear in mind that this was the first MOT, and the tyres are original as supplied new (11,263 miles covered) - by Arnold Clark! (Albeit a different branch).
What say you - valid advisory or them talking piddle?
Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):
- Tyre slightly damaged/cracking or perishing ALL 4 (5.2.3 (d) (ii))

I doubt if anyone can properly answer your question based on those photos. I can't see anything unusual but I am no expert.
Can you take the car to a local trusted independent for a second opinion on the tyres?
How much thread is there left? If it is 2mm or lower maybe it is time to think about new tyres anyway although 11,263 miles isn't a lot.A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".2 -
You only made one mistake, it’s called Arnold Clarke.
Im no expert but they look fine to me.
I’ve read they changed the compounds to make them more eco friendly.
Shortening their life span.
I think it’s 6 years now.
I would only worry if it’s a problem next year when you go to a different mot testing station.2 -
Turn steering on full lock and inspect the face of the tyre (between the tread).

Thanks for the replies.
There's plenty of tread left on the tyres, and I tried to take photos as close (but full) as possible. (I guess the upload to imgBB reduces the size/quality somewhat).
PS - I forgot to mention that (when we queried the 3-y-o tyres being perished) they said that the tyres were Kwik-Fit cheapos. "Really?" we asked. "Are Arnold Clark in the habit of replacing manufacturer tyres with el cheapo jobs on new cars that they sell?" (They didn't have an answer to that).

Not the tread depth, look for signs of cracking across the tyre surface, in between the tread grooves.

Sorry - your post wasn't there when I started typing my reply above.

You have only photographed about a third of the tyre so not really representative but lots of really obvious cracks on show which are signs of them degrading.
Easily see the cracks around a critical point where the layers of tread are at the edge:
Highlighted below:
I've put red lines either side from one of the other tyres to show how widespread it is:
And some more in between the tread:
Close up of the above:
Guessing the other 2/3rds of the tyres I can't see are the same.
Time to scrap the car, not economical to repair1 -
If you google Kumho & cracking, they are well known for it. Kumho warranty tires* for 4 years against cracking & perishing due to ozone & sunlight, those tyres aren't 4 years old yet.Try a warranty claim from Dacia- there will be some nonsense about "tyres are consumable and not covered by warranty", but you are claiming for premature deterioration not wear & tear.*I couldn't find a UK kumho warranty, but I'd expect it to be similar, the UK website says to go to a kumho dealer for advice, but you didn't buy the tyres, Dacia did.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)
