If everybody did then we would not need new nuclear.
Today was overcast and dull with rain but i still managed 3kwh into my hot water tank and no power taken from the grid.0 -
One issue is that not everyone can afford them, but do they even work on north facing roofs? They certainly never used to be financially viable if your roof faced the wrong way, but I haven’t kept up with the latest developments.Benny2020 said:If everybody did then we would not need new nuclear.

obviosuly it’s a moving feast with increases in price.0 -
Let's not get into the "every new house should be forced to have solar panels" it's a no brainer and the profits the house builders make they should be made to put them on every house. Imagine a bulk install costs probably only 2.5k per house.0

Won't work on North facing roofs, economics have changed with the increased prices of electric and gas.0

The do work on norh-facing roofs, they just generate a lot less electricity (as a very rough guide, half as much).Benny2020 said:Won't work on North facing roofsIf you use PVGIS you can try various orientations of solar panel and see what the effect it has.For example, if I put 1kWp of solar panels near Leicester with optimised slope and azimuth, it says that at 35 degrees slope and zero azimuth (facing south) they will generate around 998kWh per year. Changing the azimuth to 180 degrees (facing north) reduces the generation to 532kWh.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Yes of course I know they would work, but no one sane would spend money on something financially unviable.
sorry if it wasn’t clear.0 -
Putting aside your gas consumption, the electric is also high. We also cook on electric (induction range cooker), and we cook all meals from scratch. Our electric consumption is circa 200kWh per month.Fashion on the Ration 2026 Coupons 0/66
