Michelin vs Devanti tyres on a Ford Focus

Having had my car form new in 2012 I've always gone for the Michelin tyres they were ordinally fitted with believing they were the best all round tyre.  But with less budget these days I'm wondering if I still should replace my back tyres, currently Michelin with Devanti mid range ones.  Firstly will it give me better fuel economy?  Secondly I do drive long distances three or four times a year but most of my driving is 5-10 miles.  Is it worth the extra £100 per tyre or not?

Ive never heard of Devanti, so id suggest they are far from mid range.

What size tyres does your focus take for the difference between budget tyres and Michelins to make a difference of £100? Unless the Devantis are free.

What makes you think these no-name, budget tyres are anywhere near "mid range"?

As above, what are the tyre sizes you're looking at?

I was ready to slag them off, but a cursory glance suggest they are alright.  OP go and read some reviews before you decide.

In Dec 2019, I got four new tyres on my 2007 Focus for £150 all-in.
An extra £100 per tyre would make that bill £550.  Over three-and-half times as much.  Not very money-saving.
Apart from being round and sitting on the floor and turning when asked to, what do these special tyres do?  Perhaps they sing, or make the car fly, or greet you with a welcome smile every time you approach the car, or whatever :)

I'd be surprised that you'd be paying more than about £100 each for Michelin tyres, but it'll depend very much on the sizing and spect. I suspect that if you need expensive Michelin tyres then you don't want to go to budget tyres.

For example, I can get 205/55R16 (a fairly standard size, from my car) Michelin Primacy's for £109 fitted.

Where are you looking for tyres? Is this a local garage recommendation or an internet search?

There is the "brand name" price and then there are the rest. As for answers, dig down into your annual mileage. Look at daily use, type and conditions of the roads that you use and don't forget your driving style. Ignore your annual 2/3 long drives, they are outriders. I personally go for a mid price range tyre around the £75 mark and my driving pattern seems similar to yours. Thus I look for ratings that are B or better.
There aren't that many tyre manufacturers yet many brands, much like car makers themselves. I think you meant Davanti. UK company with a manufacturing plant in China. Use one of the online tyre shops for checking prices & brands. By law they have to supply safety/performance data in a user friendly format.
For what is worth I have changed the tyres on my car twice, different brand names yet made by the same company & in the same factory.

Without knowing the tyre size and model of the car, its hard to say, but the general rule of thumb these days seems to be that unless its a performance oriented car, a mid range tyre will likely perform the same.

Can you give us more info on the tyre size and the car itself?

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 for my 630i were around £200 ish a corner from my local dealer, though i got a decent deal from Blackcircles on them.

On our M140i Michelin PS4 rears were around £160 a tyre, fronts around £100 ish.

On a performance car its generally worth the extra but for most cooking variants theres unlikely to be a notable difference.

Don't think my sub-100 BHP Focus compares to either of those cars, beyond the fact they all have 4 wheels.
