Update: iWeb *did* pay £10 into my bank account at the end of Jan - not at my request :/ grr!

At this rate I'm not sure if I can be bothered - do I trust them anymore?!
You've an inactive account that's been closed. Why make a mountain out of a molehill. Must be a better use of your time.

Because I'd like to use the account. And because I don't believe it should have been closed.

I will prod a little more, to make the molehill more of a hill, but I'm not getting into big hill or mountain territory, no Sir.

There’s a £100 fee to pay when opening a new account. If circumstances change and OP wants to use IWeb in the future, he’d presumably have to pay another opening fee.

I’ve got a small amount of cash with IWeb with the intent of transferring an ISA in at some point. I’ve been put off due to some of the delays suffered by others.

Indeed, and I was lucky to get in when it was £25, with a couple of weeks to spare before going up to £100 :)

Be a shame to loose access now!

Plenty of other fee free options available. IWeb is a basic retail offering nothing out of the ordinary. In time I expect fees to be reinstated as platforms are under investigation for the profits they generate on depositing client funds overnight.

Indeed, but no such thing as a free lunch is there?

I actuslly think iweb is unique (in many ways lol!) but mostly in that it's a lifetime fee and not yearly. No other platform does that, to my knowledge. Ignoring the 'free' platforms

It's quite special at the present time, as it is the only major UK custodian of assets that offers investors both funds and shares with no ongoing charge for unwrapped/ISA. Hence it can get away with charging customers and up-front opening fee. Whether it will change that charging structure in the future I have no idea, but I think it would struggle to differentiate itself from other HSDL trading styles if it did. Would probably just be absorbed into the main Halifax Sharedealing brand.
