SSP was payable on the first day of Covid sickness until the 24th March, so you should have received 2 days SSP.

Do you earn over the threshold of £120 a week?
I did think I should have got 2 days of SSP
That's not correct. As advised, your partner would have but not you. You were only off for 2 days.

As I understand it, the period of absence was before March 24th, when there were no qualifying days.

You understand wrong.  There still had to be an absence of 4 days to claim , but payment was made for all working days lost rather than after 3 days.

    https://www.acas.org.uk/coronavirus/self-isolation-and-sick-pay/sick-pay-for-self-isolation

Before 24 March 2022, staff were entitled to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) if they could not work because they were self-isolating for any of the following reasons:

    • they had coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms or tested positive
    • someone in their household had symptoms or tested positive
    • they were told to self-isolate by an NHS test and trace service
    • they were advised by their doctor to stay at home before going into hospital for surgery

To be eligible for SSP, they must have been off work for at least 4 days in a row, including any of their usual non-working days.

They were entitled to be paid at least SSP for every day they were off work. This was different to the usual rules for SSP where the first 3 days are unpaid.
