  • I am not sure if you picked up my post about working time directive - for 'only' working 48 hours you don't need an excuse - you have an absolute right

Don't think I saw this, considering I'm basically 0hrs do I still need to do this or can I just speak with someone? Also can they change my rate of pay or something shady under the fact that I changed my hours so they can change rate or something
  • If you are on a 0 hour contract you are not obliged to do any hours, and they don't have to give you any.
That's the nature of the contract.

So you can just say, sorry - can't work those days any more, and leave it at that.

Unfortunately there is no guarantee that someone won't decide you are being a pain, and that someone else will get all those hours instead. It would be rubbish, unfair etc but there is nothing to stop them because you have no contracted hours.

So hedge your bets, start looking for a new job closer to home and saving up a bit of a buffer. If you know them well and they are good bosses it's unlikely, but you never know.
