    Not buying them is the cheapest way unless you're CEV, and frankly, even they don't need them either.
    Many care homes and hospitals insist that visitors take a LFT before visiting.

    Some of us still need them because we are eligible for treatment after a positive LFT. If we didn't have the tests to hand then no treatment. I think I can still get them free but I haven't tried yet.

    haven't seen that happen at all in the South West,problem with  LFTs is such low sensitivity that it is pointless relying on a negative result, the only useful result is a positive one - getting a negative one tells you very little

    Happens with 2 family members in different care homes. Can’t visit without a negative LFT.

    Though their accuracy is about 75-80%, it’s obviously of benefit for the asymptotic. Whereas you can’t rely on it, it does find people who are positive. It is thought that those with higher viral load are more likely to test positive.
