I was more than willing/happy to go to court, but they bailed on it/discontinued with an N279, so I never even got the chance to submit my WS Bundle/evidence......chattyjohn said:Hi All,quick update, I got my court date 30/09/22. I note that the claimant has to pay an additional £27 trail fee. Maybe this is why I received a letter from CEL this morning saying if you pay the £60 original charge and £35 court fees we will except that instead of the £333.90.Part of me wants to expect this offer, as it will cost me more than £95 taking the day of work. But out of principle and the time people on this forum have given up helping me. I'll see them in court. I'm hoping they have seen my defence and feel they may not win. What are your thought? Thanks John
As evident on this forum I beleive this is a common occurance. But it is still recommended to be prepared for Court and meet all legal deadlines.
My offer for settlement to the legal firm was £0, no idea if that was an influence or not?aphex007 great news on the N279 how long after the court date was issued did they bail, was this CEL? Did they offen you a reduced bill before hand.I have 3 days left to take their deal, which I'm not - so hopefully they will discontinue after they see I'm not backing down,How did you know the N279 had been issues, I'll still get my WS statement submitted. Thanks John0 -
And that’s the end of that chapter - many thanks to everyone that helped me out. 2 -
That certainly looks very good. Well done. But...chattyjohn said:

Don't throw everything away just yet.
Time and time again we see the court throw out a case like this. The Claimant them protests "but I did pay".
The court then says "Oh yeah, so you did. We found your cheque down the back of the sofa. Sorry about that".
Case gets reinstated and everything carries on as if nothing happened.
Sorry to put a downer on this, but don't spend too much on celebrating just yet.5 -
I’ll hold back on the champagne for now, but when I log onto their website the balance on the PCN is now at zero.5

Hopefully it is not premature to say: well done, that's hopefully the end of it!
ANOTHER CEL ONE BITES THE DUST!
And...please don't leave us yet!
We need you - as a genuine PPC victim of aggression, sharp practice and an 'extortion' attempt to add £70 - to respond robustly to the Public Consultation on the level of parking charges and banning of the false added DRA 'fee' that too many honest motorists currently fall victim to.
It will need consumer input (powerful voices) but change is afoot. It's taken about 5 years to get to this stage:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6333036/breaking-news-government-has-announced-the-statutory-code-of-practice-and-enforcement-framework/p1
And then the industry threw victims' money at it and blocked and delayed it - explained here:

Please now Bookmark BOTH threads and set up email alerts on your posting profile, so that you get an email alert when we post there, as we will, once the Public Consultation opens later this year, once the new Ministers are fully appraised.
We need people like you and your driving family & friends to respond in high numbers! You have a personal story to tell about the culture of CEL adding an unjustified £70 for double profit.
THAT MUST STAY BANNED, AS INTENDED.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
