Faster Payments - Barclays to Santander

...... provided that both, your bank and the bank of the recipient take part in the Confirmation of Payee processing. Not all banks do, though both, Santander and Barclays do.bengal-stripe said:pjbennett said:I have told the breeder that I will make payment via my Barclays app to her Santander account.
Your best bet is setting-up the payee a few days in advance. The correct sort code and account number will show you the name of the account holder. .....0 -
I've just checked on my Santander app, clicking 'Pay' I can go to 'Pay an existing payee' and then a list of my existing payees comes up, There is no opportunity to add a new payee. Maybe I'm using an old version and have never noticed. As I said, I can set it up through online banking and have it instantly on the app.Daliah said:Are you sure? I have been setting up new payees in the Santander app for ages.
I've just checked google, apparently there is a way to set-up a new payee through the app. I'll work out the how-to over the weekend.
Sorry for giving dated advice.0 -
are you using the Android version of the app? May be it only works in the iOS version. Though this would be pretty shambolic0

Using the Android app I've just set up a new payment in the last minute.1

Ironically for me, it's always been sending a small amount and seeing if it goes through and then sending a large amount that has triggered a held payment. Although that was when sending money into an account registered in my name. It doesn't always happen though, I only ever risk a £1 in case I type my details in wrong.SiliconChip said:Could you send her a small amount now (which would be a deposit on the full payment)? That would save you having to set up the new payee on Sunday and prevent any first transaction delays happening then. There is a theoretical small risk of a second transaction being held up but it's never happened to me with any payment I've ever made.

To add a new payee.
Click on the To field, which takes you to your list of payees. Then just click on the RED circle, with a white cross + at the bottom right of the APP with Android. 👍Life in the slow lane1
