Think it's that a 3 bed house would seem excessive as it is only the Op living there.
May you find your sister soon Helli.

Hello
I would not be frightened of moving to a new place. I did it a year ago and am now moving again to somewhere totally new 300 miles away (more affordable purchase), albeit within 50 min train ride of family/friends.
It's not so hard to make a new circle these days - you can meet people with hobbies on meetup.com - people often post pub meet-ups or activities and anyone turns up, same in sports. I'm over 50, perhaps I am more confident but it still takes a deep breath.
But even in worst case you can always travel to visit your old muckers at weekends/holiday - so many affordable overnight lodgings now. And have them come to see you.
Don't let fear hold you back. And you never know where it may lead !
Fortune favours the brave.

"I can only afford houses that are too big for me" would seem an odd complaint. If that's all that's available in his area for his price range being too big is not much of a sacrifice.TripleH said:Think it's that a 3 bed house would seem excessive as it is only the Op living there.3 -
I count 186 2+ bed properties for sale under £350k in South Gloucestershire currently on the market.

I find it hard to believe none of those are suitable for the OP...
Like what about this?

Two beds, garden, beautiful, walking distance to two local high streets and Bristol within 20 min drive?

No idea about the area, or whether that's a decent price, but its very nicely done. The only concern could be parking? But that might not be an issue for OP with such easy access to public transport.0 -
I've done that 6 times in 10 years now (not all planned). Although I think a bit more stability in my life is needed now. The only thing I'd say is that to do that requires you to be adaptable to fit in.ripple34 said:Hello

FWIW I’m a single person in a three bedroom house - fair enough I’m not exactly minimalist but I do sometimes wonder how families manage to fit everything in.
3 bedrooms - mine, one as a spare room (minimally heated unless needed) and one as an office as I work from home most days. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.7 -
I tend to agree. We are two of us and a dog living in a 3 bed house.elsien said:FWIW I’m a single person in a three bedroom house - fair enough I’m not exactly minimalist but I do sometimes wonder how families manage to fit everything in.

When we have guests stay over it feels crowded🤣🤣🤣3 -
