Gas Tariff Contract Broken by Octopus

I joined Octopus in the summer having had gas installed and also moved my electricity to them. At the time of install they gave me a fixed tariff to October 2023. It was expensive then but, I knew, if I remained by 2023 I'd be quids in. However, without notice, they have cancelled my tariff despite taking the extra ££ during the last few months. Is this legal? Can they take extra money now, cancel the contract when it's not in their favour and reap the reward?

Even if you assume the tariff went from October 2021 to October 2023v1 The issue is one of morals and legality
Can Octopus change, without notice, their tariff AFTER it's been introduced and operating for over 6 month?0 -

Can Octopus change, without notice, their tariff AFTER it's been introduced and operating for over 6 month?2. We don't know because we don't know what contract you signed. Unless you tell people what contract you're on, how can anyone answer your questions?2 -
In addition to the tariff information requested by others have you breached the contract in any way, eg cancelled the direct debit, reached too high a debt on your account, defaulted on a payment, refused a smart meter etc. What is the actual text of the email/letter cancelling the contract?0

As an update - I've managed to get in touch (after several days trying) and Octopus have a greed the tariff (irrespective of it's name) should not have been ended sooner than the tariff end date without agreement. Eg if I contacted them and wanted a tariff change they don't have to agree. They have now reinstated their 24M fixed tariff so, I'm in my tariff until next year. This has saved me the tariff increase etc. and I'd recommend anyone in a similar position to ask not to be moved.0

So it would seem it was a genuine mistake by Octopus, which they have corrected.
