Fedex debt collectors after me after company failed to pay import duties

Accepting responsibility and actually making reimbursement are two totally different things. Many European companies have been withdrawing from selling into the UK due to the increased cost and administration of doing so. I'd expect the website pages to be updated in due course.thedoberman10 said:
I've said several times that they have accepted responsibility. Whether they should have paid the duty is not up for debate. They themselves have apologised and are doing the opposite of what you're speculating.Thrugelmir said:I'd say that their website hasn't been updated properly. They'll stand by their formal terms and conditions of trade as quoted previously.1 -
Ultimately you have a legal responsibility to FedEx to reimburse them for the import charges and their fee.Thrugelmir said:

Separately Altra has a contractual responsibility to pay for them.
You'll have to pay FedEx first and chase Altra later, unfortunately.1 -
Have you got any advice at all?Thrugelmir said:

If you mean I string a bunch of words together that may or may not have any value, I think that's quite common on this forum.said:

This isn't Euro Car Parks though, it's HMRC.thedoberman10 said:
Could you not apply this to many parking charges? Calling their bluff is just refusing to pay and in some instances they just can't be bothered with it.There isn't a bluff for you to call. They believe you owe the money.
The money is owed to them and they'll get it - just pay up and sort it after.
It's one thing when it's a car park debt, it's another entirely when it's FedEx / HMRC for goods they can prove you signed for and are now in possession of.1 -
Don't pay FedEx without first pushing the shipper to. Very easy for the shipper to contact FedEx and settle the costs themselves by accepting the charges on account.
