Applying for probate online

Options
I’ve finally reached the point where the inheritance tax process has been completed and I’m trying to submit the probate application online.
I’ve got as far as making payment and have been emailed a payment reference.
The online form won’t let me progress beyond this and submit the application. It keeps taking me back to the payment field.
Has anyone else has this issue and will I complicate matters if I post a paper application quoting my payment reference number?
 Thanks in advance

I can't comment on the on-line process as I didn't even try it and it was before the forms changed anyway, but I did a paper application and paid over the phone and then there was a delay before we could submit, due to lockdowns and such, so even though it was many months later, I just put the payment reference in the box on the paper form and it went through fine.

Yes it is likely to complicate matters if you send a paper form after starting or completing an online process. And they are not likely to notify you of any query for a number of weeks, after which you start again at the back of the queue.

I completed and saved a form online. When I returned to submit the application the system was down for maintenance. The following day my application was corrupt with no way of continuing so I completed, submitted and paid for a new application.

About six weeks later they riased a query about the original application which I answered this within minutes of their email. I used their webchat to check they had everything they needed and I was told the eight week period would start again that day.

I'd suggest ringing or using their webchat to see what they advise before sending in a paper copy of anything.

Thanks for your replies. I haven’t posted the application yet. I’ll try and contact them first.
