Electric underfloor heating & Fisher future heat bouler

I currently use I currently only have electricity for my heating as gas is not allowed in my apartment. I currently pay £300/month for the electricity I use! Despite cutting down on drafts and dropping the temperatures per room I have seen no improvement. I wonder if the smart meter is accurate - the previous owner only paid £100/month. Is there anything I can do - I am retired but still have a mortgage.

Basically you have to invent a time machine so you can go back to live in the past when electricity was much cheaper. That's likely to be the main reason why the previous owner paid much less per month - because electricity used to be a lot cheaper. You've probably already done most of the cost-effective measures to reduce your electricity consumption.Reed0

Welcome to the forum.jonathancoghill said:I currently use I currently only have electricity for my heating as gas is not allowed in my apartment.Sadly, standard-rate electricity (which I think is what you describe) is one of the most expensive ways of heating a property. The only way to save money in an all-electric properrty is to change how you heat it:
- Economy 7 and storage heaters will cost you a few thousand but save perhaps 25% on your bill;
- An air-to-air heat pump will cost you a few more thousand but save you perhaps 50% (see this thread for what's involved).

Electric underfloor can be lovely but very expensive ; Fischer boiler is very, very expensive.
Perhaps the previous occupier never switched either on.
That £300 will soon sound very cheap.
Are you on a fixed tariff - when does it end
If variable make sure you read the off peak and on peak meter register tomorrow.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
