29/3 22. Using a journey planner before departure gives you journey time & distance enabling calculation of Average Speed which if exceeded is wasteful.

Curious to know which journey planner knows how fuel efficient my car is?

Zap-Map does, but that's for a specific use case [EVs] and it's not what the OP is suggesting.

The suggestion is that exceeding the [predicted mean] average speed at any point in a journey is wasteful. Which is not particularly useful advice, because unless your journey happens to involve driving at exactly one speed the whole time, then there will always be points where you are exceeding the average, no matter how much you slow down.
Probably best not to try being "too clever by half" and just drive a bit slower than you usually would, ease off as you come to the lights, etc.

How will you ever know your average speed till you get to the end unless you have a computer running lots of calculation's. Speed on distance covered, speed required to meet average speed at destination?

At a guess average speed given by sat nav will be based on speed limits on the roads. But exceeding it may not be wasteful, if a lot of it is downhill & you are just running on zero throttle. But then again if it's a lot of uphill then you are going to use more. Some will take into account elevation changes, but not many.

End of the day it costs what it costs. Drive to limits as best as you can & keep the right foot light, while reading the road ahead.

Cutting down on journies is where the big savings have been for us.

We get our groceries delivered by Tesco for £2 a week now, that was otherwise a 20 mile return trip.  We also combine journies rather than nip in and out several times.  Today we needed some grocery items but i combined that with picking up a prescription and posting a parcel.

We've found that between Tesco and Amazon (and sometimes Ebay) we can get pretty much whatever we need delivered and no more expensive (But often cheaper) than going getting it ourselves.

We both work from home now also.

We still enjoy going out but we not just dont do the boring mundane stuff that was eating up quite a lot of fuel.

We've been with Tesco home delivery since the start of the pandemic as our nearest supermarket is a 45 mile round trip so it's well worth the £2.00 it costs for delivery. During the last 2 years of pandemic our mileage has more than halved....seemed to be losing interest in driving now! :( ....

Far too much, I pay £36/annum (midweek plan, Tues., Wed., Thurs.) which relates to about 69p/week, providing the order is over £40.
