Ironically it's a net credit for me to drive to tesco. The 11 mile round trip uses about 3kWh while I can charge by around 7kWh for free while I'm there.

What is the value of time versus the nett 4kWh plus home delivery charge?

I have to admit to being totally perplexed by this conversation.  Do people really live in such remote places that the Supermarket is an 11 or 20 miles round trip?  Or, are people that fussy on Supermarket brand?

 11 miles round trip is >5 mile radius, nearly 80 square miles.  Massive area for only 1 Supermarket.

Well let's assume he was going to be shopping anyway, and that he'd have paid 20p/kWh at home, he's essentially up by £1.40 just by parking. Seems better than being down about £2.50 in petrol.

Some people live in small towns / villages and need to go to the next town over to get stuff like supermarkets.

It was kind of tongue in cheek on my part, just from the perspective of costs of getting the groceries.

I'd rather pay a nominal amount and have them delivered.

You're totally perplexed by it? 

You get that there are vast swathes of rural areas / villages / small towns across the UK that wouldnt warrant a supermarket at every corner?

Rockall.  Over 400 miles to nearest Tesco.
Doubt they are covered by home delivery, though.

The 2 large towns either side of me are 3 and 9 miles from the nearest supermarket.

Given its uninhabited / uninhabitable, thats probably not an issue.  I doubt they'll have to decline too many requests from there.

Don't live in a remote location but do a 16 mile round trip to Supermarket. As it's a larger store, has better range & more likely to have what we need, Also much better class of customer 😂
Add in stop of a coffee on the way back & get 50 MPG on the trip as opposed to something like 20 MPG going to one a lot nearer. Due to the time taken to car warm 🤷‍♂️
