It is REALLY annoying not to be able to compare (or, how good is my fix?)

    Comparing the prices,
my 2yr fix (£40+£40 exit fee) is at the moment more expensive (per KWh)

    - 0.32p gas (about 4.5% dearer) - Est. usage 13071.6kWh
    - 2.77p electr. (about 9% dearer) - Est. usage 2657.4kWh
but, and this is the surprise for me,
the combine standing charge is actually cheaper by 25.96p per day (about 34% cheaper).

I should compare how many KWh I used up over the summer last year, but it is a lot of hassle now. Gas does go down significantly, while electricity is pretty much constant, so say I use 1328 Kwh in the next 6 months, I would end up being about £37 worse off. However, I am £47 better off on the standing charge, so all and all I'll be probably breaking even until October comes when goodness only knows what will happen.

There’s nowt to compare. It’s all expensive, and this is how it will be.The Brave New World. Without the price cap,we would all be paying a hell of a lot more than now. It’s no wonder companies have gone bust if they are charging less than they have paid. No business can stand that. I’ll stick my neck out and say that you won’t see the prices we used to : Oil,Gas and coal are getting scarcer, and we have frozen Russia out, with no thought to finding replacements. The UK may not use a lot of Russian energy, but as net importers ,we are haggling on the global markets with those who do.

    Get used to it.
yes, but my question is "how does my fix compare"? At the moment I don't really know. I would have to phone my supplier (So Energy) who has no info on their website.
Your fix (here) is a good deal. I said at the time that it could turn out to be (here), although some others disagreed!
If it was on offer today, people would snap it up. You should keep it.

No, I am not going to give it up. I was just curious to see how it compared, and now I know. At least next October I'll in a better position to understand what is going on.
I was surprised at the standing charge being lower, and lower a lot!
