But one of the main benefits of a funeral plan (apart from locking in prices) is making things vastly easier for whoever had to organise the funeral.I'm not sure about exactly what these funeral plans cover, but I'd be surprised if it makes it that much easier than what would be done by a local funeral director in conjunction with writing down your wishes - in your will or elsewhere - with regard to what sort of form you want your funeral to take.Having had to help organise one myself recently, I think the trickiest bits were deciding things like what music and readings to have, who to invite (we were restricted to 30 due to covid), where the wake should be etc, and I don't believe a funeral plan would have helped with any of that over and above the deceased having written it all down on a piece of paper beforehand.0

FYI, there's at least one thread on a similar subject over on the 'Death, Funerals and Probate' boardhttps://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6336589/pre-paid-funeral-plan-with-safe-hands#latest

My husband's funeral plan covered all the costs of the cremation except the flowers.
That included the cost of collecting the body, the cost of the coffin and hearse to take the coffin 100 miles to the nearest crematorium, crematorium cost and celebrant costs, the cost of the wake in a hotel near the crematorium,

TBH. Rather than pay one of these companies who will be making money from this. Simply set aside a certain amount in a savings account.pallyman said:I was considering one of these plans but holding of till they government regulation.

Can you claim back your Direct Debit payments to date under the DD Guarantee - citing fraud. Customers were clearly told all funds were kept and protected in a Trust - which has turned out to be a bit of a lie. That's obtaining money by deception in my view.Linda27858 said:
Te plans were being paid by direct debit I enquired 4 weeks ago about paying it off. Thank goodness i didntMe_2 said:
Did you take the plan out with a deposit payment made on a credit or debit card?Linda27858 said:Today both my husband and I received a letter each stating that Safe Hands were now in the hands of the administrators. We were not given much information. We have plowed into these two plans about £4000. We now are set to lose the lot. My husband has retired and I am fast approaching retirement age. We now have to think again about the funeral cover. But who do we trust to do this? Is there any way of getting any money back? We were told that our money would be held in trust? But we believe that this is now the case. Any thoughts on any redress we might be able to take?
Were the plans paid in full, or did you pay them off over a number of months by Direct Debit?0 -
No, that's not something the DD guarantee covers. It's only "fraud" for its purposes if the DD hadn't been authorised by you.Me_2 said:

Hello I'm new to this forum. But have ben following Martin for a long time. Please can anyone shed some information on how else to get my mother's Safe handsfully paid plan. We paid by Debit card at the time. Apparently I can nor get any assistance from my bank as its over thee 120 day for them to make a claim dispute. We have filled in the form sent by Safe Hands for a refund, but have heard nothing since. My mother is 85. The whole reason we done this plan was to secure something in place for her as we lost my dad suddenly in 2020.Any advice or information on Safe hands administration would be very helpful.Thank you0

I think the administration period ends today, so presumably you'll hear something soon. All the current information is on the link provided in the earlier post: https://www.safehandsplans.co.uk/appaftettey said:Hello I'm new to this forum. I'm afraid you're in the queue with everyone else, awaiting your share of any sum there is left to dispense. I suspect it will be minimal or possibly even nothing, sorry.0
