Safe Hands Funeral Plan

Today both my husband and I received a letter each stating that Safe Hands were now in the hands of the administrators. We were not given much information. We have plowed into these two plans about £4000. We now are set to lose the lot. My husband has retired and I am fast approaching retirement age. We now have to think again about the funeral cover. But who do we trust to do this? Is there any way of getting any money back? We were told that our money would be held in trust? But we believe that this is now the case. Any thoughts on any redress we might be able to take?

The maximum redress you could take would be the funds you put in, but you're unlikely to get that.
If not already done, you'll need to apply to the administrators and see how much, if anything, you can get back.
If any payments were made by credit card or debit card, you also potentially have those routes.
When looking for another provider, you'll want a FCA registered one (all need to be by July this year).0 -
Or just keep your money saved somewhere else. I suspect very few people end up only owning a funeral plan, and not enough other assets to cover the cost of a funeral.Deleted_User said:

That's true. But one of the main benefits of a funeral plan (apart from locking in prices) is making things vastly easier for whoever had to organise the funeral.0

I got the same letter too and I'm shocked. I had fully paid for my funeral plan. Maybe I'll have to reconsider my plans and go for a garden border funeral plot, I've not enough money to pay for it all again as I'm retired now. I've never been involved in bankruptcy matters so all new to me.
Any advice more than welcome0 -
I got the same letter as well and I'm afraid I cannot afford to buy another pension plan. I have been working through my debts and was planning to pay this one off in August. I still owe quite a bit.0

All you can do at this stage is to follow the advice on the link given above. In due course you will hear what value your plan may now have or how much you will be able to get back, but there's a shortfall of funding for the commitments they've made so it's highly unlikely you'll get all of your money back.Roseyglow said:I got the same letter too and I'm shocked. Did you take the plan out with a deposit payment made on a credit or debit card?Linda27858 said:Today both my husband and I received a letter each stating that Safe Hands were now in the hands of the administrators. Were the plans paid in full, or did you pay them off over a number of months by Direct Debit?0 -

Kersky, I assume you're paying by Direct Debit? Roseyglow, how did you make the payment - a credit or debit card transaction?0 -
