Question for you people on the immediate debit.
You use a Pay @ The pump with the £100 auth. Does it show a statemented debit the £100 straight away & then adjust to the correct amount days later?Life in the slow lane0 -
Natwest do this.Kewsea said:I have both a Starling and Monzo account and love the fact that when you make a debit card payment it's reflected in your balance straight away - no pending transactions (even though they are pending in reality). Are there any other banks that have this feature as I need a 3rd current account - I don't want one where there are pending transactions and 2 separate balances.
Thanks.
You'll probably find a lot of places do this now - following the rules changing so any overdraft isn't included in the available balance, a lot of banks started taking pending payments off the available balance immediately too.

If we are being technical, there is no bank in the UK that will debit the amount immediately from your account.
This is because all card transactions are processed overnight and what you will see is just the authorisation hold. It will physically not debit the account until later.
I suppose the only real solution if you want the available balance to be one and the same is a prepaid card.
They will always display an accurate available balance for obvious reasons.

Correct but some make it 'look'like they do which, for me, is what I am after - simplicity. Starling, Monzo and (apparently) Chase do that and it works for me.username said:If we are being technical, there is no bank in the UK that will debit the amount immediately from your account.

With Starling it does an immediate notification at £100 but usually updates with a new notification at the correct amount pretty quickly after completing the transaction. Usually minutes not hours.born_again said:Question for you people on the immediate debit.

With Monzo it usually shows "instantly" as £ 1.00 with a note "final amount to be confirmed" (or similar)born_again said:Question for you people on the immediate debit.

Actual amount updates usually within an hour or so - along with a notification to confirm

Starling always shows £30 I think (or at least £30 if you paid less).
Barclaycard shows exactly the amount you spent. I paid at pump £20 and it showed immediately as £20 pending.

I only use a credit card to pay for fuel now as gives you at least 3 weeks for the refund to update.
Paying forPetrol or diesel is not the worst, as one swipe is enough.
Electric car charging is terrible, My mate tried 7 charges one day and none would start charging.
Some we’re £30 each and took between 6 and 15 days to come back.0
