Deceased personalised plate

Exactly. The refund is part of the deceased person's estate. DVLA have no idea who the beneficiaries are.born_again said:
It's not a insult, it is to ensure that the funds go back to the correct account. Which can be paid into the deceased account. Just the same as other payouts.Goudy said:To add insult to injury, DVLA will even return the unused portion of the RFL back in form of a cheque made payable to the former registered keeper even though they know they are no longer with us (I kid not).0 -
Thanks to everyone who replied to my question - I didn't expect so much help! Following the advice, I rang the DVLA who told me I'd have to put the numberplate on retention first, then follow up with a change of ownership. Unfortunately, since my husband didn't leave a will I needed a probate certificate before I could do anything. Have applied for that, it could take up to eight weeks. Then the numberplate will be another few weeks, then the change of ownership. Looks like it will be quite some time before I get all of this straight.....0
