Not delay but cancelled flights have led to returning to different airport

We are flying to Malta on Sunday. We were flying to and from LGW with Air Malta. A couple of weeks ago we had an email to say that we were now returning to LHR as Air Malta have cancelled our return flight to LGW. I complained using article 8 (rerouting) from the EU regs and after initially being told we were not entitled to anything Air Malta have now changed our outward flight so it is also from LHR so at least we are now flying to and from the same airport. They have also agreed to pay the difference in our airport parking bill. Do you all think this is reasonable or should they also be covering extra travel costs as LHR is a lot further for us than LGW? Many thanks!

It appears that they gave you more than 14 days notice so no financial compensation is due.
I think you did well to have them pay towards your airport parking. I don’t think you will get much further.0 -
OK- many thanks for the advice. We will accept what they are offering0

As above, if you've had 14 days notice then you don't really have a leg to stand on, it's accept the changes or apply for a refund.
The offer you've received is therefore more than generous in law.💙💛 💔0
