Can anyone say what kind of digi recorder mine is?

I have a digi tv recorder that I love but it's really done for. The hard disk needs constantly to sort itself out and recently required reformatting meaning I lost the library and recordings set.  It didn't enjoy moving houses and has been going increasingly downhill since.

I did look online a while ago and couldn;t find anything that did the same thing. The instruction booklet doesn't give a type.

It will record 2 channels at the same time and allow playback from the library.
Could anyone give me a technical name for this so that I can look for another please?

This is my old one

I'd be surprised if this one couldn't do everything your old one did...  (it's called a PVR).

Does your TV have HDMI socket(s)? Your old recorder uses SCART to link with your TV, don't think any new Personal Video Recorders still use this (analogue) technology.

EDIT : I lied, this one has HDMI and SCART https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7865451

Don't buy from Argos - or Currys.   Better service and warranties from other places. IMHO ;)

Any of the very lates Freeview Play PVRs will do all your old one did and more - except they will use hdmi connections and be capable of recording HD programmes and maybe streaming 4k UHD stuff... but it depends on what TV you have to some extent.

If your current TV hasn't got hdmi connectivity you may have a struggle to find something to work with that.  Humax sell refurbished products such as https://www.humaxdirect.co.uk/refurbished/freeview-hd-recorder-hdr-1800t-500gb-refurbished.html which has a scart output.

Humax refurbished items can be almost like new, and relatively cheap.

Manhattan is another brand that has pretty good reviews. https://www.johnlewis.com/search?search-term=pvr

Cornucopia thank you for that. Certainly has all the bells and whistles.
Most of it I don't need, I'm not an avid TV watcher and just record my favourites so I'll try and find something simpler and cheaper.
But you may have solved the problem. Reading that I seem to remember mine was a 'twin tuner'.......so long ago.
There is a basic Humax that seems to run the same at £70 less. I'm so out of touch with the new companies but they seem to have been around for a while.

Thanks for the advice. The posts didn't show until I refreshed.
The TV (a 19" led yes really) has HDMI and Scart sockets the instructions say. Phew.
I may have to use Argos or a local retailer - more expensive - as I live in a rural area. The only other alternative is online. I'm not keen as it's harder to return if something is wrong. We are really cut off from the way big business works at the mo.

Mobile, that may be a thing but the Amazon et al deliver/pick up boxes have moved around the supermarkets and think still gone.
The PO is tiny. Due to close and be relocated again shortly.
But good to be reminded. I'll have a look around today.
So many changes with lockdowns and takeovers here. During lockdown the collection point was 15mls away!
