Advice on Car Hire in Pisa, Italy please

Hi Everyone,
My young family and I are off to Pisa soon and I wondered if anyone had any recommendations on car hire and what to do about baby car seats? Our current baby car seats are quite bulky and heavy. I have an 18 month old and 3.5 year old. I have read about getting some other car hire insurance and not to go with the car rental company's version. Any advice, much appreciated!
Thank you!

Hi, do you really need to hire a car in Pisa?
I only ask because my experience of driving in Italy was extremely hair-raising! They're not the best drivers in the world.
Plus, driving on the 'wrong' side of the road was a tad scary. For me, anyway.
There's a lot of info here - https://www.kayak.co.uk/c/car-hire-guide/driving-abroad/italy/
CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) is mandatory in Italy and some of the car hire places include it in the costs of car hire. But you can also have more comprehensive travel insurance which I think I'd want to pay for if I was travelling with two very young children.
You can google for more information, there's a lot on the internet about driving and hiring cars in Italy. And also about hiring baby and child car seats, which are also mandatory. Some people who have been with small children recommend taking your own child seats but recommend researching the fitting and fixing methods, to ensure that they are compatible with whatever car you're hiring.

Also be aware that many Italian cities including Pisa have (badly signed) restricted zones in the city centre and its very easy to pick up multiple fines without realising. Also be familiar with how their toll road sysytem works, its another trap driving tourists fall into.

Moving this to Flights, Currency & Car Hire, where it might get a better response.
