I ran a 1.5 Diesel Sandero Stepway Laureate for three years, and it proved totally reliable and never let me down.  Combined with £20 a year road tax and 50mpg, it was very cheap to run.

I sold it basically because I didn't enjoy driving it, it was very spartan compared to my Mk 4 Mondeo Ghia estate.
