Wouldn't quite agree with a 4m pixel camera being better than a 3m pixel camera. My understanding is that the quality of the lens is possibly the most important thing. If you don't need pictures over 5" x 7" then I doubt you would notice the difference between a 3M and 4M pixel camera with the same mechanics. Don't be swayed by the number of mega pixels. My Nikon 5200 takes better pictures when set at 3M than 5M (richer colours) for some reason. If you don't mind having a slightly bulkier camera (i.e. one that you can't just slip in your pocket) the 10x optical zoom is a major bonus in my opinion. I take my Minolta Z10 3 Megapixel with me if I know I am likely to be wanting to take photos... leave the Nikon 5200 5 megapixel in the car on the offchance I want to take a snap sometime.0 -

Also; I would be really grateful if someone would check thier Z10 to see if it sounds like something is moving around inside when you rotate it through 360 degrees? I think I might have to send mine back and they don't have anymore stock so would appreciate advice.
Thanks

What a fantastic thread.
I have just purchased an Olympus mju410 for a net cost to me of £74 !!! This camera retailed at a lot more than that recently.
The camera was reduced to £114 in boots. It took me some time to track one down, but thanks to a nice man called Philip at Boots Customer Service he found me one. I duly rang the store and reserved it.
The camera was £114, I handed in my 10% coupon that someone mentioned on this site that was in the free magazine. That took it to £103. I then handed in £20 worth of boots vouchers which I had received for doing a survey. I was then handed a £5 coupon back because I had spent over £25 in store, then 400+ points on my card !!
Hubby will be pleased on his birthday next week.
Cheers

RE Minolta Dimage Z10 (Hamish)
Mine clunks too but I saw this mentioned in a review on one of the camera review sites before I bought it so nothing to worry about! I think the lens assembly has some play in it. Nick0 -
Thanks Nick, I was all ready to send it back but I'll hang on to it now. Don't suppose you can remember where that review was can you?
Cheers

Nope not true at all the lens is far more important than the MP, a 6mp el cheapo camera would take far worse pics than a 3mp Canon for example.
Higher MP does not always mean better pictures it just means you can print out bigger pictures wihout loosing quality.0 -
LOL I've learnt a lot about digital cameras from this thread, thanksThanks to all who post constructively.

Thanks for an excellent post. I printed the list and took it to my local superstore to compare prices, the staff were gobsmacked that I had this list! I was not too sure what to buy as this is my first step to buying a digi, so took home the Canon Powershot a310 and the Kodak easyshare dx63400 and also the JVC camcorder, they also had the Kodak Printer at £149.99 but when it came up on the till it was the same price, rang their customer care who told me to go back and tell them that it IS half price, my touble is now which one do I choose, can anyone help a new digi user?0
